The 70’s & 80’s

sportslife
MOSSA’s story began in the 1970s with the vision and determination of its founder, Rich Boggs. After a decade working with leading corporations like Procter & Gamble and Bristol-Myers, Rich felt his entrepreneurial spirit constrained and his health declining.

Determined to take control of his life, Rich decided to get moving. His commitment to positive change led to the creation of Sportslife: The Science of Good Health—a chain of seven full-service health clubs in the metro Atlanta area, serving over 45,000 members.

With nearly 15 years of experience owning and managing these clubs, Rich gained invaluable insights into the fitness industry. This strong foundation laid the groundwork for the success of MOSSA’s world-class group fitness programs and home workouts today.

The 70’s & 80’s

The 90’s

the step company
In the late 1980s, a new fitness phenomenon emerged in the Sportslife clubs—step aerobics classes performed on wooden benches. Recognising the excitement and potential of this trend, we developed The Original STEP and launched The STEP Company to bring it to the world.

During the height of the step fitness craze, over 13 million people participated in step aerobics every week. MOSSA introduced The STEP to more than 25,000 clubs across the US and Canada, and countless others worldwide. Today, The Original STEP remains a cornerstone of the fitness industry, used by millions of participants every week.

The 90’s

The 2000’s

bodytraining systems
In the late 1990s, MOSSA, then known as Body Training Systems, introduced pre-choreographed fitness programs to health clubs across the US and Canada, transforming the group fitness experience.

By 2005, MOSSA had evolved further, launching its own professionally developed programs. Alongside these, we introduced a comprehensive instructor training system, a sales and marketing framework, and an extensive management system. These resources, including software and tools, were designed to help health clubs maximize group participation and drive profitability, solidifying MOSSA as a leader in the fitness industry.

At MOSSA, our goal is simple: to get more people moving. We achieve this by collaborating with top-tier health and fitness facilities and partnering with international distributors worldwide. Every program and workout we create is driven by our unwavering commitment to deliver the best group fitness experiences and home workouts.

We believe fitness should be fun and accessible. A great workout combines an engaging instructor, a motivating playlist, and innovative programming to inspire movement. With an inclusive mindset, we aim to encourage everyone to prioritize self-care through movement, because we believe movement is medicine.

Movement reduces stress, relieves anxiety, improves cognitive function, strengthens the immune system, releases endorphins, and prepares us to move younger, longer. LET’S MOVE!
